I have been coming across Tracy Neuls rather alot recently. It's interesting how you encounter a company and it can take many years before you buy something. I find that with my business. That's why it's important to take a long term perspective, and also appreciate that it's is not just about the moment of purchase but this extended relationship. I think this is a good thing.
I've stopped at the Tracy Neuls shop on Marylebone Lane for many years. The experience is much more like an art gallery as it's very artfully curated such that you don't really think it's a shoe shop. You peer into the shop and stop what you're doing to look at the space.
Then I saw her shoes in the Natural Shoe Store, which bemused me as I'd not thought of her work as being in that kind of place. I discovered that her TN29 range uses vegetable dyes, and this was why.
So I made my first purchase. Bright red shoes. They told me that the colour fades in a natural way; in fact the ones in the window were less tomato colour than mine because they weren't quite so fresh out of the box and I quite liked that. So, with this ageing process in mind I bought a nice pair of shoes and put them in my sometimes sunny garden room to get a little bit of sunshine along with the geraniums and herbs.
love that they fade... from a tomato to a cherry. gorgeous shoes. i agree that purchases are not often instant. i am like this when i buy, i like to take my time.
hope the festival of crafts is good. looking forward to seeing your creations for real.
